“A long long time ago, I can still remember how that football used to make me smile,
And I knew if I had my chance, I could make those people dance,
And maybe they’d be happy for a while”
So sang Don McLean (sort of) in his epic American Pie….But many people have asked me what existed in my life before The Ball is Round. Well perhaps I have been a bit negligent in not promoting my other site – Budget Airline Football which has practical information on over 250 grounds in Europe that you can visit with ease (in most instances) from the UK with the likes of Easyjet, Ryanair or other obscure and potentially financially crippled airlines. It used to be an obsession in finding more venues to update but now I have been rationed off to updating it with 2 new venues per week. So go along and find out about some strange teams in Moldova, the grass in Slovakia or even who plays at the Wankdorf Stadium. We have details on clubs and stadiums from over 50 countries around the world, including 48 in Europe alone.
As with all of our other sites it is completely AD FREE! so please bookmark it, use it, fill in the guestbook and more importantly send me details when you go to new venues so I can update it.
And for those who are interested, you can still get a free downloadable copy of the Budget Airlines Guide to European Football from the site or by clicking here. Yep, I will say that again. A 220 page book that normally retails at £9.99 if you can track down one (See even Amazon don’t have one in stock)…just call me Father Christmas!
Just to say that I love the Budget Airline Football site, and have used it for research long before I got to know your TBIR blog.
Wankdorf still puts a smile on my face, not because it sounds funny in English, it’s where Germany won the 1954 World Cup by beating the then mighty Hungarians 3-2 :-)
And of course Michael where the saying “The Ball is Round” comes from I believe….
